Biography
Welcome - I am looking forward to my fifth year here at Kennedy Middle School and my tenth year in the Lake Shore District. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to teach second, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. (Quite a variety.) This has also allowed me to teach many of my students for more than one year - How thankful I am for the chance to mentor and guide my students from elementary school and through middle school. Lucky girl.
I am also blessed with a remarkable husband who married me 5 years ago this October. Feel free to stop by my classroom and see the pictures. What a lovely time of year for a celebration. (Even the picture I selected for my website reflects my absolute favorite season.) It's just the two of us now, no pets - not even a fish.
Prior to my marriage, I attended Wayne State University where I earned my bachelor's degree with a major in mathematics. After that, I completed my master's degree at The University of Michigan with a concentration in mathematics leadership. Go Blue!
You should also know that I have high expectations and hold my students accountable for the choices they make. I expect them to hold high standards for themselves, both socially and academically. I also encourage my students never to give up, even when they are frustrated, for that's all a part of learning. The environment in our classroom will be one that fosters a deep understanding of the content. Multiple representations of mathematics will be incorporated to reach all learners. Students will also take an active role as they are challenged to share their thinking, defend their solutions, work with their peers, and get involved in discussions. It will be an incredible learning experience for all.
